Building massively-visible mass support
for an evenhanded two-state solution for Israel & Palestine
Welcome to Support Sanity™
As extremists
on all sides of the Israel/Palestine conflict try to wreck attempts at a
fair solution – including the draft permanent status agreement known
as the Geneva Accord (DOWNLOAD PDF BOOKLET) – one of the most basic
and important steps that each of us can take is to publicly affirm
the fundamental humanity of both sides – both as an end in itself
and as the only basis for a viable alternative to the current
situation.
Support Sanity is an independent public campaign doing its part by
building massively-visible mass support for an evenhanded two-state solution
by promoting the mass display of a simple, "symmetrically-affirmative"
symbol: the
Israeli and Palestinian flags crossed in friendship over the motto “Justice
· Peace · Life”.
|
Next Steps:
|
To us this symbol represents the only solution that makes sense
– two equally secure, viable and sovereign states for two equally
worthy peoples. For only with symmetry can there be justice.
And only with justice can there be peace. And only with
peace can there be the life that the mainstream on both sides longs
for.
We think it's "What the Answer Looks Like".
By creating a "virtuous cycle" (or "snowball effect") of display
and engagement, in which the display of the symbol engages others
to also display it, we seek to shape American public opinion and,
through that, U.S. foreign policy.
The centerpiece of the Support Sanity campaign is an attractive
and inexpensive lapel pin that we are encouraging supporters
of a just peace to wear as part of their everyday attire.
(Even Yassir Arafat wore one!

For our more moderate guests the Support Sanity site is an absolute
must - very well put together ... and packed full of wonderful
information, links, and other content. Check out their excellent emblem
- the Palestinian and Israeli flags crossed with the motto "Justice,
Peace, Life" beneath. Truly a splendid initiative and well
worth half an hour exploring all their pages and information.
They also sell a full range products advertising the emblem described
above.

Jewish Friends of Palestine

Support Sanity is
a valuable networking opportunity for Arabs and Jews to come together
for a positive purpose. In this country, perception is often reality
and symbols and icons are very powerful tools. The image of a Palestinian
flag and an Israeli flag together helps those visionaries who aspire
to peace and compromise see what their efforts might bring.

When I first
saw the pins, all I could think of to say was, "YES!"
— Annette
I am out of pins
again, so this time I’d better buy 100. They are very well received
here [Washington DC]. More than any other symbol in a long
time, Support Sanity’s lapel pin encourages people to unlock their
hearts. Most of the pins I give away get instantly worn.
... The accuracy of the pin’s underlying sentiment is recognized
by nearly everyone I encounter.
— Michael
Thank you for passing
on this website to us. I love this organization and its message.
I like their retail products very much and in particular their lapel
pins. They can provide us with a vehicle to display our commitment
to ourselves and to everyone we come in contact with.
I think the possible ripple effects from wearing this little
pin are extraordinary. I ordered a bunch of them immediately.

If great enmities are ever to be really
settled, we think it will be, not by the system of revenge and military
success, and by forcing an opponent to swear to a treaty to his disadvantage;
but when the more fortunate combatant waives his privileges and, guided
by gentler feelings, conquers his rival in generosity and accords
peace on more moderate conditions than expected.
From that moment, instead of
the debt of revenge which violence must entail, his adversary owes
a debt of generosity to be paid in kind, and is inclined by honor
to stand by his agreement.
And men more often act in this
manner toward their greatest enemies than where the quarrel is of
less importance; they are also by nature as glad to give way to those
who first yield to them, as they are apt to be provoked by arrogance
to risks condemned by their own judgment.
