When a friend gave me a pin similar to yours (printed on it in Hebrew, were the words "Gush Shalom" - roughly "Peace group") I said I would be glad if only someday I could wear it with pride. That is not possible while "Palestine" is or would most likely be a place where women would remain subject to "honor killings," polygamy, and other degradations; and Christians and Jews would have few or no civil rights (and what did happen to the Christian majorities in Bethlehem, and towns like Rameh, in the Galilee?). Given the current HAMAS regime, we are unlikely to see a peaceful, two-state solution anytime soon. Anyway, don't many take it for granted that a two-state solution would mean two states, each of which is relatively free to oppress the other's population? What kind of solution would that be? Why don't you advocate a one-state solution, wherein the one state actually protects and defends equally the human rights of all of its residents? Could it be because it's "unrealistic"? Because the most popular versions of Islam have no conception of Human Rights? You, me, and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (#18) think changing religions is a Human Right? Well, it is a death penalty offense according to most orthodox Islamic authorities (Shi'ite and Sunni). You believe in Freedoms of Speech and the Press? Well, not the Mullahs in Iran, or Hizballah, or HAMAS, or those who killed Daniel Pearl; and certainly the not the Saudi royal family. You believe in the Right to sell or otherwise dispose of your own property? Not those Palestinians who complained that the Greek orthodox ex-Patriarch Ireneos sold some land (fair and square) to Jews in Jerusalem (didn't he lose his job because of that!), and killed other Palestinians, who did the same, as collaborators. You believe women have a right to control their own bodies? Not those Palestinians who continue to commit "honor killings," and maintain multiple wives, even more mistresses, adn would enforce the hijab even on the relatively enlightened women of Abu Ghosh. You believe in the right of all to employment in the Government of their native land (UN Declaration #21)? Not the constitutions or relevant legal authorities in Pakistan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Arabia, Iran, Syria, Jordan, etc... Two-state or One-state, it makes no difference. Until the Palestinians can commit to peaceful co-existence based on (what many would call an un-Islamic) respect for the Human Rights of "kaffirs" in their own territory, with all due respect, you are whistling in the dark. They will inevitably use their state as just another launching pad for the never-ending jihad against the Dar-el-Harb, including, of course, Israel. At least in a one-state scenario, it would be the combined police, and not a single side's army, whose job it would be to force them to act in a civilized fashion, respecting the Human Rights of all. In a two state scenario (at least as currently envisioned), there would be no inducement to push the Palestinians to deal with the issue of Human Rights within their domain (remember the destruction of the synagogues of Gaza). In a One-state scenario, the issue of Human Rights would need to be dealt with PRIOR to and as part of the solution, and not as an afterthought.

I commend you for your efforts in bringing a balanced representation of events in the Middle East, as well as spotlighting those, both Arab/Muslim - Jewish/Israeli, who work for a just and lasting peace. The amount of disinformation put forth by others is such a formidable obstacle. It is a testament to human tenacity that those countering such propaganda still persist.

Oh, and can we do away with this concept of Jews being "handed land" by the Europeans or the UN or the US or ANYBODY for that matter? All land owned by the Jews in the Palestine Mandate was purchased at over one thousand dollars an acre from Arab land owners. This was considered arid, untenable land in most cases. At the same time, one acre of rich soiled land in Iowa was selling for just over 100 dollars an acre. The Jewish immigrants, the zionists were the ones who turned swamps and deserts into farms. And they paid dearly for it both with labor and money. So, thank the arab landowners for selling Jews land in the mandate. Also, western states in fact did nothing but inhibit Jewish immigration into Israel after WWII. Britain blockaded the coast and many Jews were forced to rturn to the very countries that had sold them out to the Nazis. Many even lived on the sites of the concentration camps where their families had been murdered simply because they had no place to go. So, let's end this myht of the Jews being handed ANYTHING in the middle east. What we have we earned through blood and toil.

"The Palestinian demand for the 'right of return' is totally unrealistic and would have to be solved by means of financial compensation and resettlement in Arab countries" -Hosni Mubarak "The Arab States do not want to solve the refugee problem. They want to keep it as an open sore, as an affront to the United Nations, and as a weapon against Israel. Arab leaders don't give a damn whether the refugees live or die." -Former UNRWA offical Ralph Galloway The Arab states have consistantly shown that they do not care to help solve the problems of the palestinian refugees, the very people they encouraged to leave Israel to be out of the way of the coming Arab invasion of the young state. Many of the arabs living in the land now called Israel fled due to rumours of Israeli atrocities and fear of being caught in the crossfire of the coming war. Many fled because the leaders of Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, and Iraq told them to leave lest they be considered collaborators, or traitors to the Arab cause. Now, despite the role these countries played in causing this refugee problem, they refuse to help. In fact, they inflame the situation by pumping arms and money for the families of suicide bombers into palestinian refugee camps. Not only do they not offer citizenship to any of the displaced persons, they frequently offer jobs, housing, land, and other benefits to arabs and non arabs EXCLUDING palestinians. Where is the international outcry over this injustice? Why do you not ask the arab states to share in the burden of aiding these people? Those arabs that chose to remain in Israel now enjoy full citizenship and voting rights. They work among Jewish citizens of Israel, live in the same apartment buildings, can boast representation in the Knesset AND cabinet, and are even excluded from compulsive service in the military. I do not expect to change the minds of people who obviously have agendas and may or may not be interested in facts, but even the most anti-semitic, anti-zionist among you must realize that the state of Israel is NOT INTERESTED IN KILLING ARABS! They want peace and security. Now, how often do you hear the Jewish refugees from the late 1940's and early 1950's mentioned? It is convenient to ignore the fact that some of the world's oldest Jewish communities, such as those in Iraq, Syria, Libya, and Iran, were ordered to leave the country or be killed. They were allowed to bring nothing but the clothes on their back. There were 820,000 of these Jewish refugees between 1948 and 1972, as opposed to 650,000 Palestinian refugees. Of that 820,000, 586,000 were resettled in Israel with no compensation given to them by the Arab states that froze their bank accounts and confiscated their property and posessions. The rest chose to settle in other countries. These communities had, in some cases, been in the arab countries for over 2000 years! The arab people living in the land that is now Israel were there for no more than 1000 years. Israel can not be expected to repatriate the over 1.2 million palestinian refugees. The two state solution, which Israel has bent over backwards to facilitate, has been rejected time and again by the palestinian leadership. Israel has now completely withdrawn from Gaza and offered 100% of that land and 97% of the west bank to the Palestinians to create an autonomous country of their own, and the palestinians have balked. Suicide bombs, mortars, rockets, molatov cocktails are the reply to Israeli offerings of peace. What, my fellow Jews, are you asking for? No, creeping annexation is not the policy of the government of Israel. Annexing the disputed territories would have been easy to do decades ago if Israel so wished. Instead of slowly taking control of government agencies and utilities and security in Gaza and the West Bank, Israel has gradually transferred more and more power to the Palestinian Authority. All we ask for is peace. Live and let live. Come, work in our country and visit our hospitals. Pray in Jerusalem. Just please, leave your bombs and missiles and rockets at home. Do not murder our civilians and we will have no need to answer. But, if terror attacks continue and violence prevails, Israel will do what is required to ensure its citizens are secure. It is not only acceptable to closely examine and even question the actions of any government, including Israel, it is the duty of persons everywhere to do so to ALL governments. Be aware, however, that Israel is the protector of Jews everywhere and will not stand by while any Jew is persecuted. Even those that disagree with the government's policies are welcome and have a home. Never again will jews face a Holocaust while Israel exists. So, for all Jews who chose to criticize the actions of the Jewish state on this site or any other, remember that while no government is perfect, Israel's has your best interest at heart always. As for the attitudes of Muslims towards Jews and Christians, I will resort to quoting some of the better ones I have found, as it is important to hear it straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak. "Saddam you hero, attack Israel with chemical weapons" -Palestinian mob marching during Gulf War "Israel is much smaller than Iran in land mass, and therefore far more vulnerable to nuclear attack." -Former Iranian president Ali Rafsanjani "If [the Jews] all gather in Israel, it will save us the trouble of going after them worldwide." -Sheikh Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah Think, Israel has offered land, trade, peace, friendship. What have the Arabs offered in return? What was the Palestinians' collective answer? Chemical weapons?

I believe that the Palestinian/Israeli conflict can be explained biologically in terms of populations and territory. It is this biological factor that is driving the conflict. I have created a webpage explaining my views. If you have time, please check it out. You may find my views interesting. If you believe in Natural Selection, it's a sound argument. Thanks.

I firmly believe that, given the history of atrocities on both the Israeli AND the Palestinian side, encouraged in part, by the Arab countries and the rest of the international community, that a TWO-STATE solution is the only safe, sane solution to the conflict. Good work. Keep it up.

Hi--I just viewed some of this website, and the testimonials in this guestbook with much interest--and enjoyment, to boot. I see that there are varying opinions about the idea of a 2-state solution, which I wholeheartedly support, and believe to be the ONLY safe, sane solution to the Israeli-Arab conflict: It's definitely true, that in 1947-1948, that the Arab world was quite obstructionist and refused to accept the proposed partition of the land in question. That partition would've consisted of the Jewish-majority State of Israel, and a Palestinian Arab majority State of Palestine comprised of West Bank and Gaza Strip ALONGSIDE Israel, with Jerusalem as an international city. Unfortunately, that did not happen, and, in 1948, when the new State of Israel was formed, the Arab countries promised the Palestinians that the new State of Israel would be destroyed, and that they'd once again be able to go back to the land that they'd once lived in. When the Arab countries attacked Israel in 1948, Israel prevailed and won. Instead of allowing a Palestinian Arab majority sovereign state to form in Gaza and West Bank, Egypt and Jordan held onto those territories for themselves and ruled over the Palestinians in GAza and West Bank. In 1967, Jordan, Egypt and Syria positioned their armies and tanks on Israel's borders, poised for attack, closed the behran straits to Israeli shipping, and threatened elimination of the Jewish State. Israel then launched a pre-emptive strike, taking Gaza, West Bank and Golan Heights by storm. Unfortunately, Israel's occupation of the above-mentioned territories, while it stopped certain problems(i. e. Palestinian guerillas' use of West Bank and Gaza as launching pads for attacks on Israel), it has created scores of OTHER problems for Israel, which are reasons that Israel MUST pull out of West Bank and Gaza NOW: A) Demographics are at work here. The birthrate of the Palestinian Arabs in the occupied territories is much, much higher than that of the Israeli Jews. In fact, many people in israel are warning that in ten years or less, Israel could/would lose its Jewish-majority population and become a Palestinian-majority state instead, which is not wanted by most Israelis, and by most people(jewish and non-jewish, around the world) B.) Israel's occupation of West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem, with its demolition of Palestinian homes, the illegal building of settlements, and other flagrant abuses of Palestinian civilians by the Israeli Army, is sapping the strength, resources, and the moral of the Army, as well as harming Israel as a society and as a people. Although there's definitely a modicum of truth in the claim that Israel's the only democratic ally in the mideast, the occupation definitely flies in the face of that. C.) As someone who doesn't like the idea of war, and as a 2-state solution supporter, I'm also aware that a 2-state solution, important as it is, won't guarantee against any future conflagrations between the two states of Israel and Palestine. It would be far easier for Israel to protect and defend a smaller area of land and its people, and, its army and Israel as a society in general, would be relieved of the burdon of keeping an angry foreign population under martial law. I also might add that for the Israeli occupation of West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem DOES guarantee disaster for Israel: its destruction. D.) Israel would regain the higher moral ground and perhaps much more international goodwill by ceding WEst Bank and Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem to the Palestinians and withdrawing the israeli settlements in those territories, because they don't belong there. E.)Israel's long-term survival depends on withdrawal from the occupied territories. Most Israelis, both soldiers and civilians, find the occupation intolerable for that reason. The occupation bodes NO good for Israel, either. F.) The Palestinians in the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem, long held in fear and contempt by everyone else in the region, are NOT wanted by the Arab countries, and Israel CANNOT absorb them for obvious reasons. Therefore, the Palestinians MUST have their OWN independent, sovereign state. Having said all of the above, I understand why people like Rachel Corrie and her colleagues/friends in ISM did what they did. Rachel Corrie's death was unfortunate--and needless. One does not have to approve of Israel's policies in the occupied territories to realize that, unfortunately, Rachel Corrie herself did not exercise the best judgement, which, along with the criminally reckless actions and behaviour of the Israeli soldiers driving the bulldozer that mowed her down, also contributed to the loss of her life. That and everything else aside, I'm also aware of the horrific atrocities committed against innocent people by both sides, and therefore believe that, given the history of both Israel and the Palestinian's committing of atrocities, that a TWO-(independent, sovereign) STATE solution is of utmost importance. On a closing note, I just wish to add, that, although I cannot bring myself to donate money, or to wear one of your pins precisely BECAUSE of the history of atrocities on both sides, that I think you're doing a wonderful job in creating a website with a more balanced opinion of the whole conflict, where others of likeminded thinking can come and feel comfortable. All the best.

Support Sanity. Sanity: A novel idea in these times of extremes. I belive that seeing this conflict from both sides is the most important ideological leap people have to make before a solution can be reached to this conflict. There are extremists on both sides (as is seen by statements on this site) a balanced view must be made. Palastinian refugee camps may produce terrorists but then as I type the Israeli army is shelling civillians on the Gaza strip. People have to look past the xenophobic propaganda and the non-existant justifications for slaughter made by pseudo-religious idiots. To this end I'll buy a pin and wear it with pride, secure in the knowladge that there are at least some people out there who see the facts for what they are and are prepared to campaign for Justice, Peace and Life. Thank You Ben Norman

Arabs will not be happy until the have "expelled" the Jews from their promised land! OOh, at first, it will seem all peaceful until they want all rights to the temple mount. It is coming too...just like it was written over 2000 years ago. At this point in time, a two state solution is impossible. There is no genuine desire on the Palestinian side to co-exist with a Jewish State. It is currently in Israel's best interest to remain strong and vigilant. Perhaps in two or three generations, if and when the hatred inculcated into Palestinian children is stopped now, your goal will be realizable.

Dear Support Sanity.org, Thank you for your efforts. While I do not necessarily support the idea of a two state solution, I appreciate the fact that you are attempting to acheive a "cause" FOR something, instead of against. It is unfortunate though, that I feel there truly is NO justice in Palestine and Israel. Non-jews unfortunately live as second class citizens; there cannot be freedom without justice. To quote Edward Said; " Both peoples have to feel that they can and must live together as equals---equals in rights, equal in history and suffering--- before a real community between the two peoples will emerge." Thank you for what you are trying to accomplish. I hope and work for the nonviolent means to acheive peace and justice in Israel, in Palestine. If this takes a lifetime it would be worth the price. It would worth any and ALL suffering. Good luck!

I am underwhelmed and stupefied at your obvious lack of understanding in this matter. There is only one state of Israel and over 20 Arab states in the Middle East. For 1400 years, Arab despots killed or kicked out Jews who lived peacefully in their country, until finally only Israel provided them with respite. All Arabs continue to favor the death of Jews and Israel. For this reason alone, all Arabs must leave the land of Israel, and Jews must reside their without restraint. Give up your haughty, uninformed and hopelessly tragic mission!

I have been engaged in the Palestine-Israel struggle for years. It was not the only struggle my involvement and input took place. I have spent close to eight years of my life in prisons and mental hospitals as a result of political and other diplomatic efforts and military activity, -- U.S., Brazil, Argentina. Over three decades have passed and finally there is hope for a permanent solution. Israel, as a nation state is well aware I hold no animosity toward the Israeli People. Yet, by choice, by conviction, by living this dictum: if I am not for myself, who am I?; if I am not for others, what am I? I am within the Palestine camp. I thank you and the Washington Post for providng the opportunity to express deeply held thoughts on this day.

Befor writing this I read several other postings and agree with most that peace is attainable. There are several viable paths to a lasting peace, some of which we know of,some we have even traveled, and some we may have not yet encountered. One thing is certain, great organizations may come up with all kinds of solutions, but to make lasting peace happen people, individual people will simply have to decide to stop hurting and killing each other. Individual Jews -and Arabs - must decide to leave the past in the past, to learn from it,but to really study and learn from their religions, and to act on their teachings. Stop hurting and killing each other. Do it! Reach out! Reach within yourselves! Shalom. Salaam.

It seems to me that a majority of this website is targetting Arabs and Palestineans. I'm a Palestinean American and I feel that the information presented on this website is not fair or just.I am one who is for peace, peace cannot be established if none of the parties involved want it. I do believe that there are a number of young Israelies as well as Palestineans who are for peace, unfortunately that number is small compared to those who want to out kill each other. It is truly ashame to see all this fighting over land that belongs to everyone. Palestineans and Israelies need a safe home. I believe that both parties need to sit down and figure out a way to forgive each other and start the healing process. It no longer matters who was there first, they are all there now and need to live peacefully together.

I like the idea of your pin, but have seen no viable two state plan that would create a stable, economically viable nation for the Palestinians. I would prefer that all people in "Greater Israel" unite into one democracy, or at the very least, that two states be created which federate into one republic. The common regional needs -- water, econonomic growth, security -- demand this sort of solution. Jews who wish to travel to or live near holy sites on the West Bank would be free to do so. Arabs with ancestral ties to areas now within Israel would have the option of returning to those areas. A constitution could be created to protect the rights of all. An idea like this can be opposed only by those who wish for eternal warfare (and there do seem to be plenty of people like that in the neighborhood) but these people are foolish. Their road leads only to ruin for everyone.

If peace is to be acheived, my country, the USA, must re-evalutate its relationship with both Israel & Palestine. Peace will never happen until both sides come to the table with the intent of stopping the violence, and this will only come about with the support of everyone else on our fragile planet. Peace, an equitable peace, is the only solution. There is no other.

A great website to show Palestinian & Israeli pride. We can not hate each other! We must make peace for the sake of ourselves and for the future of our children. We must stop the hate between the two parties. The more this goes on the more hateful this world will become! Please support this website and voice your opinion by wearing this pin! It would be nice if there would be peace but that is not the reality so most people like myself have resigned themselves to the idea of perpetual warfare with Arab terrorism. I have family in Israel and I served in the Israeli Army so I have experienced what life is like in the Middle East. People in Israel have given up on the Arabs. There is no one to talk to on their side. The Jewish people like all the other Western democracies want peace but history shows time after time that the Arabs and their culture only know war and brutality, the Arab mentality is very violent, cruel and primitive. They don't understand democracy and they don't understand peace. History will also show that you cannot trust dictatorships to keep their side of any agreement. If you want peace in the Middle East then the only way is a strong and secure Israel with superior military strength and a United States along with it's allies such as Australia and the UK who are willing to do something about terror also.

first of all both sides hate eachother.. i wish it would have a solution with a two state coutry or any other way in peace. however its very hard at this time.. arabs dont want to leave with Jews and Jews want more land to accommodate more Jews with greed.. Jews and Muslims have to learn leave together like in istanbul.. there are sinagogus and mosques on same street and there is no problem with that. (an event should count as an exception) both sides should give chance to peace for one more time.. "Peace at home, peace in world." Kemal Ataturk

Syria, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Chechnya, Arafat, PLO, and numerous Palestinian Arab terrorist groups constitute global Arab fascism. This worldwide structure puts in danger entire western civilization, targets and jeopardizes everything what western countries achieved for centuries. The primary goal of Arab fascism is completing Hitler’s objective and eliminating the State of Israel and Jews from the face of the Earth. The broader goal of the Arab fascism is eliminating the western civilization. In order to achieve this goal, Arabs heavily infected every western country with terrorist cells, which are wings of the global Arab fascist structure. They are looking for opportunity to acquire weapon of mass destruction including nuclear weapon and they will not hesitate to use it against us. Do not forget that European countries supported Hitler in the 1930s, which cost the world over 50 million lives. European countries did not learn the WWII lessons and now they are under silent occupation by Arabs who try to reshape the European countries. Thus, a radical Arab group in England demands establishing the Shariat Law in this country. Let us not repeat the 1930’s mistakes because with the weapons of mass destruction the number of casualties will be much higher. The WWII lessons show that we must be proactive, destroy and eliminate all these fascist groups preemptively by any means to avoid WWIII, nuclear attack, to save our countries, our and future generations. War on Iraq is the first step of the war on global Arab fascism. Jews have been lived in Palestine for over 5000 years. Palestinian Arabs came there several thousand years later and since have occupied the historic Jewish land. During the WWII Palestinian Arab clerics contacted Hitler with objective to eliminate Jews from their historic land, Palestine. Arafat, PLO, Palestinian terrorist organizations, such as Hamas, Hasbulla, Islamic Jihad, etc. have conducted ethnic cleansing against Jews for decades. Their goal has ever been eliminating the State of Israel and moving Jews to the sea. The only way to achieve peace at the Middle East and restore the historic justice is exterminating Arafat and every single member of every Palestinian Arab terrorist organization: PLO, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Fatah, Tansim, etc. Koffi Annan, Nasser al-Kidwa, Amnesty International, Human Rights group should be put on trial through international court for promoting Arab fascism and anti-Semitism around the world. Actually, the PLO was formed in 1964 not to gain independence from Jordan (illegally occupying Judea and Samaria at the time) and Egypt (illegally occupying Gaza at the time). It was formed to "liberate" the rest of Palestine and render it Judenrein. There is no interest in a two-state solution. Here's Article 19 of the Palestinian National Charter "The partition of Palestine in 1947 and the establishment of the state of Israel are entirely illegal..." Here's a link to the whole thing: http://www.pna.gov.ps/Government/gov/plo_Charter.asp Go read it. Even when it's dressed up in a "Support Sanity" pin, it's pretty hateful.

What is a Palestinian? It used to mean a Jew living in the land that was named by the Romans about 2,000 years ago. While the Arabs living on the West Bank were controlled by Jordan and the Arabs living in the Gaza strip were controlled by Egypt, they formed the Palestinian Libration Organization. From WHOM were they seeking liberation? Not Israel. They wanted to be free of Jordanian and Egyptian rule; they wanted independence. Wanting independence is certainly something that all people want. The United States wanted indepencence from Britian and got it. However, they did not invade Canada or Mexico in order to achieve independence. After 1967 Jordan and Egypt lost their control over the Arabs in those two parts of the land. Rather than chose to become independent at that time, they chose to attack the soverign state of Israel and continue to attack it to this very day. Why have they chosen to break international law instead of building a nation? Because they don't want the Gaza and West Bank. No, they want all of the land between the Jordan River and the Ocean: ALL OF IT. ONE NATION, free of Jews. Once they get over that notion, they will have their nation. They could have had it way back in 1948! But they chose to fight instead of accepting the world's decision to give Israel to the Jewish remanant. I have no sympathy for the Arab leaders. They made their situation unwinable; they have to live with the facts. However, for the people, the average man, woman, and child? Certainly my heart goes out to them. They're pawn. Willing pawns sometimes, but pawns nevertheless. A two state solution? Of course. That is what the United Terrorists...err...United Nations proclaimed over 50 years ago. The only stumbling block now is the Arab intransegence. When they give that up, things will go their way. The most disheartening thing about all of this is that as soon as a viable Palestinian state is in place, Israel will help them build up their economy. It's the Jewish thing to do.

Earlier today I wrote about learning about the conflict. I have been trying to understand. I have recently read about the Jew's and Arab's dwindling water supply. Why haven't water tankers from all countries been directed to the area? "Normally, the lake supplies more thank 100 billion gallons a year, but pumping is down by more than 3/4s, and is being pushed ever closer to the point where saltwater springs might seep in". "If the lake's surface drops another three feet, pumps will draw air and stop dead". Some say that there is a 7:1 water distribution ratio between Jerusalem and Palestine. Equalization of water distribution may ease a lot of hostilities. Still learning.

With this said, I cannot now, make ANY rash statements; they wouldn't make any real sense anyway. One thing that I would like to state however, is that maybe if instead of Political Leaders, we make two business Corporations. Arab Muslims are kept in refugee camps by the 22 oil-rich, land-rich, wealthy Arab nations to use as a political weapon against Israel. In 1922 Britain gave 80% of Palestine to Arab Muslims. This was 80% of what the League of Nations recognized as the Jewish homeland. Eastern Palestine, a considerable part of which was ancient Israel, became Jordan. It was ethnically cleansed of all Jews. The Arab Muslims already have their Palestinian state. The two-state solution. Ethnically cleansed of Jews, of course. Around 1948 the Arab Muslim countries violently ethnically cleansed almost one million Jews from their lands. Haj Amin, Muslim religious leader of Jerusalem, went to Germany and assisted Hitler in the ethnic cleansing and murder of the Jews of Europe. The PLO were rewarded for their jihad against Lebanon's Christians of whom they murdered many thousands in barbaric ways. The PLO were placed in the Biblical heartland of Israel where they continue their jihad. Israel's Arab Christians of Judea Samaria and Gaza were handed over to the control of these savage terrorists. The Christians live under Islamic Sharia law with no human rights whatsoever, enduring brutal and relentless persecution. The jihad against Christians by the Islamic government of Sudan has resulted in 2.5 million Christians dead and over 200,000 taken as slaves. Absolutely no-one cares about Jews and Christians. Our lives mean nothing at all.

CONDI'S CONDOM'S FOR ISRAEL The ongoing growth of Jewish settlments is most troubling. As my mentor and ex-Secretary of State under George Bush Sr. James Baker said; "It is the greatest impediment to peace". The fact that non-moslems continue to build homes and have babies has caused his hemmoroids to flare up again and this time with a vengance. The moslem arabs have our green light to do as they wish,we hope to help them shortly with their prison uprising. James wants George Jr. and I to get busy slowing down this global threat ,this cancer of Jewish expansion on their land. Colin has to lay low on this effort for a little while and I have to be careful not to stir up a hornets nest. Already today, I had to back down just a bit and give our permission for nominal growth with these non moslems. Imagine that, they need and follow our permission to live and breed, and breath,at that. Gosh ,it's so much fun being a super power elite, sure beats teaching those juvenile delinquints at university. Our token and meaningless sanctions on Syria are not intended to accomplish anything, they are just a show for public consumption. We have not interfered with the weapons super highway from Iran to Hizbollah on the front lines with Israel via Syria,as we have not called for Egypt to immediately halt all weapons smuggleing via their tunnels into Gaza. These two operations that we've intentionally ignored have not had the desired effect so maybe it's time that we expand from lead to latex. Because the non-moslems are growing in population and expanding their cities and villages building way too many nice homes,we must work even harder to stop it and not arouse the ire of the fools who voted for my boss. That won't be hard to do,the massses are actually dumbed down and we have succeeded in weakening Israel by our briliant peace efforts. Haa,ha,ha,ha,what dummmies these Israeli politicians, and their eloctorate, we give them the rope and they hang themselves,ha,ha,ha,ha. I propose flooding Israel with condoms ,from the schools to the Knesset. Already, P.M. Sharon has given the go ahead to place as many dispensers there as we wish. You have to admit that he is a good old boy and does everything we expect of him. He's even offered to wear one on his head to influence the citizens of Israel that having babies is not good and condoms are Israel's hope for the future. If any of you would like to donate funds for this valiant effort please send a check or money order to; Condi's Condoms for Israel care of- National Security Agency Washington D.C.

The distortion of historical facts including the the omission of important facts which results in a totally new and false history is beyond beleif. I don't know where to comment first. I also do not think any of these groups are even interested in the truth. If truth were important the information being disseminated here would have been thouroughly investigated and found to be inaccurate and therefore not diseminated! Needless to say I am totally disgusted and disappointed that again it is easier to beleive a lie than the truth. Probably more comfortable also.

Under the Turat-Moshe the Bnai Yisrael (literally translated "Sons of Israel"/Shevtai Yisrael) were brought into "Eretz Canaan" in order to displace/replace the other sons of Abraham and Lot whose adoption of Canaanite deities, rituals and culture had earned them the animosity of the One deity whose theocratic values/rituals and culture should have mattered to them. They were told by the Levi not to assume favouritism. These other nations bearing the names of the other sons of Abraham by Keturah and of the sons of Lot were being driven-out because of their adoption of Canaanite deities, rituals and culture. They were told by the Levi that if they (the "Sons of Israel") were to be found adopting these customs, rituals, deities and culture they would be driven-out also. The Seventh Sura of the Prophet, the Son of Ishmael (my ancestor's Uncle) also mentions this in a past-tense sense. Present-day Am-Yisrael and Am-Yisrael of the Tanach are quite similar. They are not to be confused with the Bnai Yisrael. The Bnai Yisrael according to their Shvatim received inheritance under the Turat Moshe with the exception of the Leviim/Cohanim whose inheritance would be among their brethren, the Shavtim. Whereas the Megillat Haatzmaut is a beautiful and lovely legitimate international legal document with which I happen to agree, nowhere does this document assert a Mid'o'rita Zekhut (Torah Right) to inheritance in the "Eretz Yisrael". The rights asserted to the former Palestine Mandate are in accordance with history, continued presence and religious culture. The specific term used is "Am Yisrael" not Bnai Yisrael. While this may certainly be unimportant to some, to the Founders of the State of Israel it was critical and of the utmost importance not to overstate their claim. I am an AmHaAretz and not a Scholar. My name is Elimiyahu.

Whereas Am Yisrael and The Palestinian People are BOTH indigenous to the former Palestine mandate Whereas the Arabic-speaking/Arab population imported fellahin (extraterritorial freedom fighters) to oppose the "Zionist Enterprise" AND the Sochnut haYehudit/newly-declared Medinat Yisrael imported and continues to import Jewish and related persons under the Mossad Aliyah-Bet/Law of Return Whereas vast numbers of the Palestinian population has been killed, exiled, and grossly marginalised while the Jewish population of Jewish and related persons continues to expand Whereas the United Nations and every International legal structure recognises the two-state solution as well as the Israeli Declaration of Independence as viable and legitimate international law Whereas continued expansion/annexation, expulsion and genocide of the Palestinian population is a criminal quasi-colonialist violation of contemporary international law, therefore Be it resolved that all reasonable persons, citizens, states, organisations, corporations, and any other entity involved in the security and commerce of human society are called upon to encourage, assist, promote and espouse a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian crisis forthwith. Dr. Edward Said and Dr. Noam Chomsky have both encouraged the promotion of International Legal Solutions to this and other Global Problems. Such Brilliant commentators are not alone. I have been hearing about this for 50 years now. A few years back, before Bush, the time was right for a Palestinian state but israel at the time would noy compromise on jerusalem. Noe years later and so many more people killed, injured and disabled for the rest of their lifes. I recently watched a documentary on PBS showing captured young palestian bombers, it was frightening how they are willing to die for the cause. Israel needs to compromise, so what, it's only land, give some back, abolish those settlements, that was a huge mistake. Create a Palestinian state, give those people their rights that they deservs. The american government needs to stop sideing with israel just to get votes from the jews in the US, they, the american jews must compromise for what is right. Keep up the good work and I pray anmd hope that, I will see, in my lifetime, peace over there. thanks

It's interesting that you quote The Peloponnesian War as a reason for a peaceful solution, when, in fact, Athens (the more peaceloving state) lost to Sparta. The problem here is that the Arabs (remember, there was no Palestinian before 1966 that wasn't a jew) don't want 2 states, they want one, with maybe a few thousand (or hundred, or no) Jews in it. Sometimes, the way to end a war is to win it. The only two reasons to end a Jihad (according to the koran) are success, or if failure is immenent). So while you quote all of the great peace initiatives, Israelis are being murdered, and Palestinians enslaved by the Arabs to fight a war that the Arab nations can't fight outright. What ever happened to the UN idea of splitting the British Mandate into 2 states, one for Arabs (We call the Jordan now) and one for Jews (That would be Israel)? No, if you think giving land for peace is a good idea, ask any of the great American Tribes, like the Leni Lenape, or the Apache. Thanks, but no thanks.

I do not only see wrong-doing in Israel. The PA and suicide bombings are classfied as 'crimes against humanity' by Amnesty. However, if we truly want to acheive 'sanity' from the Islamified movement in Palestine... the routine terror and Israeli genocide must stop. Even if Zionists maintain it is 'their' land..and so those who detail abuses from the UN or Amnesty or HRW are somewhat misled. To anyone who would be as bold to proclaim that Israel's actions are in 'defense' or for 'security..I must ask: why did the suicide bombings start after the brutal occupation and gross displacement of the Palestinians?. For people who pride themselves on 'history' even when they have no idea what the Torah reads they know little about a very simple truth. Terrorism is a by-product. I know it is ugly..it is shocking. But we must attack the root and for me this lies in Israeli actions and mere ideology. Zionism does not just create desires for an all-Jewish state but it creates Jewish supremacy which I feel is a travesty. Ethnic segregation, gross discrimination, daily harassment, imprisonment and frequent abuse. SO, history does repeat itself. And while 'sanity' does appeal to me when thinking about the Middle East. Perhaps it is too basic a concept. Thats if they all stop being crazy then nobody will die! What we must understand is that the Palestinians are the second victims of the Holocaust and that no Jew should in anyway feel united to Israel. Peopl say it's just Likud and Sharon. Look at the other parties! the Molodet call for an expulsion of all Palestinians from the territories! So the fascist blood thirsty Likud are actuall more moderate than some. Therefore, Palestinian terrorism was created and is being perpetuated by the state of Israel. They islamified the movement when they killed the political wings when they closed the PLO offices in the early 1960s and left the HOLY JIHAD open! They had correspondance with them hoping it would cause a civil-war. But they had one common enemy- zionist ethnic cleansers- and the planb backfired. But, I can only support your work because it is much needed with this vile increasing racism and intolerance. i just hope we can solve this 'conflict' and the victims of the occupation both Palestinians and Israelis alike, can live in peace.

I can't describe how happy I was when i went to the Jerusalem Post website and found a direct link to this. Israeli Palestianian peace can and must be obtained. Letting the situation fall to the wills of the extremists, (the hard right in Israel, Hamas, Islamic Jihad among Palestinians) will only result in more death, more pain and more suffering for all sides involved. I am sick to death of all religious and nationalistic fanaticism and sadly with the world falling into a sick cycle of its right wing extremists of all sides preaching there diseased worldview among willing masses, I fear for our future. In all honesty, as a secularist (albeit one with a bar and in some ways a socialist, if the world was truly governed to my ideals this whole issue wouldn't even be an issue for I would feel no need for nations, national identities, or even religious identities. However, I realize that this is a naive notion and I realize that in order to maintain any sense of international stability, all ethnic groups deserve there own country and national identity. If not, the end result is the group without a nation being oppressed by other nations, and often, long term violence. This happened with the Jews for centuries, it happened with the Kurds in Iraq, Iran and Turkey, and sadly and ironically, the Israelis oppress the Palistinians. It is time for this vicious cycle to be broken. A free Palestinian State would be a huge step towards improving world relations on a whole and possibly putting an end to this destructive insanity.

When I see the Arabs actively pursuing peace WITH Israel I'll take your group seriously. It takes two to tango, and the only dancing the Palestinians do is when jetliners crash into NY skyscrapers. Advice to Israelis: Finish building the wall, learn to do your own laundry and take out your own trash, then shoot any that come across the wall. When it becomes to their advantage to have 2 states, we'll see 2 states. Not before. In the meantime keep an eye on your backs, because America will soon abandon you, as has Western Europe once their own Muslim population reached critical political mass.

Dear Sirs, Everybody has wished for peace between Israelies and Palestinians. The present attitude and beliefs of Moslems do not lend themselves to achieve peace. The Moslems consider the Jews as infidels. In effect, any Moslem who would sign a peace agreement with Israel would probably be assesinated by extremists just like Anwar Sadat was. The best that can be wished for is temporary disengagement. Both Israeli mothers and Palestinian mothers grieve for their dead children. Palestinian extremists and Arafat think that they have they right to kill Jewish civilians. This will not change. This has and will cause justified actions by the Israeli Defense Forces. There are those Israelies who think that Kahane was right and the only way to achieve peace is to throw the Palestinians out just like Jordan did. They believe that the "Palestinians" did not orginate in Israel and that they settled there after leaving other countries. However, the reality is that there the growth of the number of Palestinians which will become a numeric threat to the State of Israel, where Jews may no longer be the majority. The Palestinians have continued living in Gaza under substandard conditions due to Arafat's stealing of monies alloted to them by the rest of the World. The Arab nations have not been able to respond to the peace challenge because most of their own governments are shaky. The terrorists, acting on behalf of Muslim organizations, are not part of any peace equation. Even if you could have a wonderful peace agreement between the Israelies and Palestinians, the terrorists based in Lebanon, Gaza, Syria and Iran would never respect it, and would do their utmost to destroy it. Which brings me back to my first statement that peace will not be achievable until the coming of Moshiach. J.Schon

There is no boundary between Israel and the Palestinian "terrotories" as there ARE no such territories. There is just TERROR and that TERROR comes from the Arab side of the line. Arafat just pulled out a line from the Koran "Find what strength you have to terrorize your enemy and the enemy of God," he said. "And if they want peace, then let's have peace." Did Arafat say that two years ago? No, he said it today, May 16, 2004 on a day the Arabs call the Catastrophe. Yes, it was a Catastrophe...for everyone concerned. The Arab countries have refused to absorb the original 720,000 refugees...who have grown to millions. Since when is a refugee status inherited? Had the Arab states not attacked the fledgling Israel, today the Arabs would be celebrating 56 years of independence, not 56 years of frustration and sadness for all. Place the blame for the mess where it belongs, on the Arabs who still refuse to accept Israel as an independent nation that deserves to be where it is. The instant the Arabs recognize Israel's right to BE, the Arabs will get what they and Israel want most: Peace and freedom for all. The problem is that the Arabs do NOT want FREEDOM and that is the big threat that Israel poses to them. Arabs have lived for thousands of years as feifdoms and that is what they want to continue, not democracy and freedom for their people.

Dear Support Sanity, Reading through these comments was both enlightening and hope-inducing, and deeply depressing. I suppose those feelings are a good match for the reality of the Middle East situation. As a pro-Israel Jew, a child of Holocaust survivors AND a pretty hardcore "liberal" and "social democrat", my feelings are very complicated. Suffice to say in this medium that the origins of Israel are glorious and heroic -- AND the direct result of a long, long history of persecution of both Jews and Arabs by one colonial power after another. Whether Israel came to be in a "legitimate" fashion is a moot point. Most if not all countries, after all, came to be through the violent and unjust displacement of others who were "in the way." No people or nations exists on a higher moral plane in that regard, not Jews, Christians, Muslims or any other religion/people/tribe I can think of. The history of all the human race is a violent one. Still, in my mind, Israel's legitimacy is intimately bound with a certain higher morality--a centuries-long commitment to tolerance, justice and self-determination--and to see that morality be desecrated through the occupation of Arab lands and peoples is deeply painful to me. Whether its birth was "right" or "wrong," I support and believe in a Jewish homeland. Every religion/culture/people has a right to a homeland. Muslims certainly have their national homeland...several, in fact. The reality is that Israel as a Jewish homeland is here to stay. However, the Palestinians also have a right to a homeland. Can they/we ever learn to live together? I once thought I would live to see that, but now I strongly doubt it. Still, there is no solution with even a prayer of real possibility other than the two-state solution, one that allows for BOTH a Palestinian and a distinctly Jewish state, Israel. I know several moderate Muslims who see things similarly; I hope they will work toward and pray for increased sanity among their brothers and sisters. I will pray that MY Jewish and Israeli brothers and sisters will remember that an Israel that denies and distorts its own moral and ethical heritage via occupation is an Israel that is ultimately and inherently un-Jewish, and an Israel that can not survive as its founders wished and intended. God help us all. And God help us to cease from killing and persecuting each other in the name of God. Best wishes and may your message reach the hearts and minds of Jews, Muslims, Christians and all the world. - Steve K. D. Eichel, Ph.D.

Dear "Support Sanity", As I have noticed, one of the organizations on your web site is "Jewish friends of Palestine." When there is an organization called "Arab friends of Israel", I might take another look at your cause. Thucycledes (on your web site) dreams of the time when "the more fortunate combatant waives his privileges and, guided by gentler feelings, conquers his rival in generosity and accords peace on more moderate conditions than expected." When I see the people you call Palestinians doing that, I will take another look at your cause. Your picture with two flags looks pretty. When I see the people you call 'Palestinians' displaying it, I will take another look at your cause. I do not know, but intuition tells me that most of you are Jewish, with a minority of Western non-Jewish people. I wonder if there are any Arabs at all among you. When the proportion on Arabs to Jews in your organization will approach the proportion in the world (about 38:1), I will take another look at your cause. Meanwhile, you have already done enough damage with your "sanity" talk and action. Over 1000 Jews and over 3000 Arabs are dead, thanks to your "peace process". If this is sanity, I prefer insanity. So with all due respect, I feel it is my duty to tell you, "SHUT UP" If you choose to dislay this letter, please do so in full. Sincerely, David Tsal

I just read a comment on the 'poor, sad and hopeless' situation that the 'Pal's' find themselves in. It is because of this that they do what they do. Actually, maybe look at the photos of the kids throwing 'stones' (large rocks and concrete blocks capable or murdering a person!)- they are dressed in nice new jeans and they dont look too thin, pretty well fed. ETC. Also, the majority of the KILLERS had jobs and/or were successfull students in college. The answer? a CULT of hate and murder. Period. No excuses. More like 'Support INsanity' This idea is as off the wall as using gasoline to put out a fire. Parable: there are two trains headed in different directions but they will collide if they arent moved slightly over from one another so as to be able to continue course but not crash head on. The Arabs are heading in a different direction than Israel: their direction is one WITHOUT an Israel (Ch'V), while Israel is heading in a direction (hopefully, with G-d's help) of existing and staying alive! Two very different directions! The solution is for the Arabs to stay/move in their own territory and leave Israel to be itself. Of course they wish to ultimately overpower Israel, but in the meantime let them go live by themselves! If you read the history you'll see the falseness of the whole 'palestinian' movement. There never WERE a people called 'palestinians'! If there was, it would be the Jews who have had a constant presence there since after leaving Egypt almost 3000 years ago! No matter how 'rosy' it may feel to think of the 'two state solution', it is not a reality nor can it ever become a true reality! The only possibility of it becoming a reality is for a temporary period for the Arabs to inch their way closer to Israel... but never as a true and final peaceful solution. Sorry folks but life's a little bit bigger than San Francisco anti-war demo's. G-d has a plan for the world and it is not as simple as 'can't we all just get along?' Of course in the end there will be true peace for all humanity, but not before things are truly straightened out. TRULY straightened out. May we merit the coming of Moshiach and the Geula Shliema (complete and final redemption for all the world, with peace and happiness for all), may it be immediately! Each act of goodness and kindness helps to hasten the final redemption.

I am just passing through, looking for any Palestinian living inside of today's proposed State of Palestine who wants peace and a two-state solution. When I lived Israel I found a handful who were too afraid to speak their mind. The rest did not. Reading comments from people who live anywhere but Palestine does not interest me. It is so easy to speak of peace when you are safe in your cozy little home. Even people with Islamic names writing from India, Canada, or USA cannot really know what it is like over there... we forget so easily. Please - if there is even a single Palestinian who supports peace reading this site, let me know. There was no evidence of any so far as I can see. Finding Jews and Israelis who want peace is easy - but find a Palestinian who wants peace and you found a treasure. May Allah, Hashem and G-d be with you.

I agree that two states need to exist. My position has changed. Years ago I thought that two states would only give terrorists easy access to Israelis. However, my belief now is that young Palestinians are blowing themselves up because they feel they have nothing to lose and nothing to look forward to in their lives. Like all of us, they want and need purpose - a job, a home, family. We all need to write letters to President Bush asking him to funnel aid to the poor Palestinian population on behalf of the Palestinians and the Israelis. The average Palestinian wants his/her life normalized, so do the Israelis. If we maintain the status quo, more Israeli citizens will fall victim to the Hamas.

It's great to dream, but we must live in reality. All of your liberal B.S. has been tried already and has failed due to hateful, stubborn, bloodthirsty "leaders" of the Palestinians who only care about their money and getting laid (i.e., the Husseins of Iraq, Yasser and his woman in France, etc). I support Sharon's idea to disengage from these assholes (withdraw from Gaza...) and let them prove they cannot create or don't want to have a legitimate, civilized society and choose to kill themselves, destroy their future generations and live to kill jews (and American supporters). This may sound and look like a good solution to you, but you do not understand how the Palestinians, by the majority, think. Peace, to them, is not dividing the land. Peace to them is to have all the Jews driven into the sea. They want to exterminate them all, but all the Jews are trying to do is to defend themselves in their own land. Even if we do get a two-state solution for Israel, it may look good for awhile, but even that will not pacify them for very long. Please also understand that what is going on is actually a fulfillment of ancient Biblical prophecy, and that this situation will only get worse until Jesus Christ returns to fix it all. Good Idea! I support the 2 state idea whole heartedly. That's the only solution and the best solution. People of Israel must realize that their founders and current leaders have relied too much on high-tech weapons and support from US, making them believe that by force they can achieve an Israeli state, and do not worry about paying the price for the injustice caused to the Palestinians - now refugess of their own land. They never stop to think that the high-tech weapons and force, causing untold hardships to Palestine people, do not get them the peace which they also want. Peace can only come if one acknowledges the past injustice caused to Palestine people, and have the courage to admit the historical damage to Palestine people, and enter into a honest dialog, recognizing the fact that both people need a nation that is peaceful. If not, having just a nation and no peace (inspite of military might and wealth) is an injust that the leaders of Israel cause to the generations of Israelis to come. Every leader, for the immediate political gain, make a show of military might against Palestine people. Little do they realize, nor let the Israelis realize, that this does not bring peace at all. What is the use of nation that constantly has to look out for danger, without peace. Is this the Israel the founders dreamed of. If so, they have cheated their current generation and the generations to come, for their own gains, and the same is being done by the current leader Ariel Sharon. So, the only solution is a honest dialogue resulting in a 2 state solution, and all the illegal settlements right in the middle of West Bank and Gaza removed off.

Sanity is when you recognize whom your enemy is, that he is truly your enemy, and that you have taken the necessary steps to protect yourself, and your loved ones from being harmed by him. All else is simply wishing that the world, and the Middle East in particular were different than it is. There will always be Jews like yourselves who believe that negotiating, giving away security will somehow miraculously bring the long desired Peace. Why did Oslo not bring the end of terrorism and the desired peace. Arafat reneged on his sworn promise before the entire world to forego terrorism. We all wished with the signing of Oslo that that would come. Why did and have not the Palestinian Authority deliver on its signed pledge to disavow terrorism? Why? What makes Geneva any different? I believe the PA and most Arabs know only to battle, and its sense of respect will only be satisfied with blood lust. Arafat has already declared that he does not recognize Geneva, that the right of return cannot be forfeited. So what has been gained by all the self congratulation over the signing of Geneva. I firmly believe that those Jews who support Oslo would do anything other than stand up for the right of Jews to live securely in the Land of Israel. A pity.

If the Arabs lay down their arms, there will be no more terror. If the Jews lay down their arms, there will be no more Israel. How long are people going to buy this nonsense about "occupied territories" Judea, Samaria and Gaza are not "occupied territories." For territories to be considered "occupied," they must have once belonged to another sovereign nation, which these areas have not. They are disputed territories, and the difference is important when discussing International Law! The so-called "green line" is not an established national border, it's merely a ceasefire line. BUT--All this is totally irrelevant to the discussion of peace. There will never be peace in the middle east so long as Israel exists as a nation. Hamas does not just want the West Bank and Gaza. They want all of it, Tel Aviv, Acre, Haifa-everything. Don't believe it? Look at the symbols, logos and banners of any "Palestinian" agency. See that little map they have? Find "Israel" on it. As a matter of fact, find Israel--any part of it--in any textbook used to educate children in Arab lands. Any Arab land. Can the message be any clearer? They do not recognize Israel, WILL not recognize Israel, and are raising their next generation to die in the fight to eradicate Israel from the earth. To drive the "kelbi yehudi" into the sea. That is the Peace they desire! People, this is not paranoia, nor fantasy. We're not making this stuff up? They admit to this! They SAY this, people!!! Not to us, but to their own press and their own citizens. Read the Arab Press, for crying out loud! The solution is a two state solution, but not the one you are thinking of. The Palestinian Mandate was divided into two potions, one small one for the Jews on the West bank of the Jordan, and the 70% share East of the river for the Arabs. The "Palestinian Nation" already exists, in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The "Disputed territories" should be annexted by Israel, as was the Golan. Then the work of putting together a real peace can begin. As for the refugees? Well, I think the Jews who were ethnically cleansed from Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria and every other Arab nation in 1948 should be allowed to return and live in freedom, or at least compensated for what was taken from them. People seem to forget about those refugees, don't they? Now the Arab "palestinian" refugees--either they stay in Israel, and live under Israeli law--or leave. The overwhelming majority of these Arabs are not natives of the land, having moved to Israel and the disputed territories from the surrounding Arab Lands when Israel began clearing swamps and creating life (and Jobs) in the lifeless desert. And if one more person speaks the phrase "cycle of violence," I swear I'll puke. There is no cycle. When they stop killing Jews, the "cycle" ends. When they stop killing Jews, the walls will come down. When they stop killing Jews, the bulldozers stop. When they stop killing Jews, the checkpoints will go away. When they stop killing us, they can live among us with the freedom they could only dream of in the countries from which they came.

Face it; Jews moved into Palestine and elbowed many inhabitants out. These dislocated people are going to be angry for generations and there will be some killing because of this. This has been and will be the cost of the State of Israel. Now, the two sides can viciously fight until one side is annihilated (which the rest of the world will not let happen) or someone in the world gets fed up and nukes the whole area or fighting continues causing a world war and then someone gets fed up and nukes the whole area. The best approach would be the two sides compromise now as laid out in the Geneva Accord and then try to keep the killing minimized; it will eventually stop. Israel needs to get out of the occupied territories and share Jerusalem.

You must be delusional. The Arabs have rejected the two state solution on not just one, but on multiple occasions. They favor a ONE state solution, which is "palestinian" from "the river to the sea." What did our friendly Arab neighbors do to the Jews living in their countries in '48? What rights does a Jew have in these countries today? By contrast, what rights do Arabs have in Israel? Ask an Arab MK. And try to find a Jew in the governmetn of Israel's Arab neighbors... You either know the truth and choose to deny it, or are totally ignorant of the history of Israel and its Arab neighbors. I used to be like you. I believed peace was always the best option, regardless of cost. I marched in protest against Meir Kahane years ago. I was a fool then, as you are now. When you want peace and your enemy wants you dead, you are playing a losing game. Kahane was right. May God open your eyes to the truth. Justice-Peace-Life??? February 21, 2004 Dear Friends: Thank you so very much for propagating the fact that Palestine and Israel CAN co-exist and in peace. Least we forget that Arabs and Jews are related; in fact, some Jews are of Arab extraction (e.g. Moroccan Jew, etc.). We who enjoy and love peace need to tell both Ariel "He Who Is His Own Worst Enemy" Sharon and Yasser Arafat to go back to kindergarten and learn to "get along," as the old Texas saying goes. Also, we need to let Ariel know that he needs to allow a Palestine that is independent, and to quit persecuting those who do not fit in his "mold," as well as get Israel back to a prosperous economy. As for Yasser, he needs to quit advocating violence, especially encouraging young boys to throw bombs before they can grow beards IS SICK: DO YOU KNOW THAT, YASSER? I am proud of my friends who are Arab, Muslim, Jewish, Christian. Israel and Palestine can be two nations showing a shining example that people are proud of who they are!

I do sincerely hope that I'll be proven wrong, but I honestly believe, based on all the facts, that once Ariel, Gush Etzion and Gush Katif stop being settlements, Jerusalem, Tel-Aviv and Haifa will become such. And once the those are Judenrein, then it may stop, or might move move up north to Turkey and Southern Europe. Even if there were several million Palestinians ready and willing to live in peace with Israel, it would mean close to nothing, since they are being led by a powerhungry gang which will stop at nothing to remain in control and line its pockets. Peace and statehood bring responsibilities and hard work. Status quo, and continued inpovrishement of their own people brings in celebrity status, honorary memberships, Peace prizes and money, lotsa money. Any plan that does not call for immediate removal of Arafat et al from power, disarmament of all Palestinian terror organizations, outlawing of anti-Israeli incitement in PA media and Islamic sermons, and free and verified elections in PA is a waste of time. So is this. Your plan will drag on, much like the other utopian ideas of the past, and after causing hundreds if not thousands of deaths, it will be shelved only to be replaced by yet another "quick fix" that will not work.

Didn't you (the OSLO Gang) ensure us that if the Arabs don't stop killing Jews, then we can take it all back, and say with a clean conscience "we tried" ? Shimon Peres (On "Charlie Rose" shortly after 9/13/93): "[Oslo] is an experiment. There is nothing permanent. If the experiment fails, we will go back." I would venture to say, 1400 dead Jews is a colossal failure. I had the same ignorant attitude, until I acually read the Quarn. Read it, you just might learn something. Second, to all of the positive people; stay positive. Third, Palestinians only want to be treated equal. FACT: Prior to the 1948 invasion the term "Palestinian" didn't mean you where an Arab. It meant you where an Arab or a Jew living in Palestine! FACT: 1948 Palestinian Jews where ejected out of Palestine as well as Arab Palestinians! Hence, if you don't know much about the conflict, keep your false remarks to your self. Did you know Jews kill Arab babies as well? Did you know that water is cut off for weeks at a time? Did you know that UN food is never allocated correctly because of the Isreali soldiers! In the first place, I cannot believe there is so much hate contained in the JEWS. The question is not a diminishing of a population but upholding justice for all regardless of whether a person, (Jew, Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Aethist) of a certain community is the last existing of that community on the planet. Does anyone honestly think that if the Native Americans starting blowing themselves up on NYC buses that we'd start negotiating with them to give back the Northeast? Give me a break, and don't ask Israel to do what we wouldn't over here in the first place. By the way, while the example above works as a metaphor, it's different than the situation in Israel in a couple ways: 1. The Native Americans are a peaceful people and are smarter than that. 2. The Native Americans actually CAN claim the "squatter's rights" that the Arabs now claim in Israel... only problem is, Islam came about in the 8th-9th century CE, while Judaism & Jewish "squatter's rights" to Israel go back almost 5800 years. Do the math... The Jews were there 1st. Plus, with over two dozen nations with probably as much land (if not more) than the entire USA, the Arabs have enough states. The Jews have ONE- and it's the size of New Jersey. Leave it alone.

The so-called "Geneva agreement" is such a farce. It has no relation to the political reality in Israel, and it was signed by people who represent only theirselves. The only reason this suggestion from Switzerland gained any attention is that the anti-Semitic EU financed a huge PR campaign.

My husband is a holocaust survivor (two and one half years in Moghilev) end of 1941 to 1944 liberation. We both have family in Israel. We hope the Geneva Accord will lead to a solution. Alan - You're still trying to prove that what the Palestinians doing is wrong. The thing is, I don't think I'm disputing that. I think they're behaving like animals, and I think that there's very little that Israel could do to "pacify" them - besides the fact that that's not Israel's job. But it's precisely because I think that the Palestinians will not begin behaving normally any time soon that I am so much in favor of Israel separating from them. As to your polemics about Tibet and Native Americans - yes, any nation that wants to be independent should be allowed to become so. And, if properly compensated, I wouldn't really mind giving up my house.

Dear Katya, Do you hold the same views in regards to Native Americans??? Should they repossess the Dakotas? How about a state or a group of states set aside for them - those whose buffalo were slaughtered, whose lands were seized, often with brute force, and who suffer much worse than the Palys whom you wish to grant statehood to. Did you know Katya, that there are Indian homes in New Mexico without electricity or running water??? When was the last time a Native American drove a truck loaded with explosive into a crowd of women and children outside of a Sante Fe movie house??? Or a Tucson theatre??? Or resort to torturing and basely murdered donkeys and doves? What about your home, Katya? Care to hand it over, or Mikey Lerner's for that matter, to the descendents of the Sioux, the Seminole, the Apache, and the Creek. Or how about protesting for Tibet? Do Tibetans deserve a state? Ask those on this site who rally behind Kim Il Jong or Saddam if they are prepared to denounce North Korea's major ally and demand a free independent Tibet. A people with true dignity and honor would NOT resort to the killing and torture of animals, or to deliberately seek out babies, women and children. Moreover, they would get rid of their blessed Yasser who has done more to destroy them than any and all Israeli Army commanders. When they choose to become human, then they deserve a state - and at this point, it shouldn't be the settlements or any land now in Jewish possession. After all, they started the wars. They want a state, then give them Jordan where there is a natural border...because for now they cannot be counted on to live in peace alongside us. That is the bottom line, whether you, or I or the support insanity folks like it or not. Still want to hand over your home to the Mohawks? If you are in New York, you are residing more than likely on their property. Unlike the settlements in Judea-Samaria...

For Alan Rockman: I think that a human being remains a human being no matter what he/she does. Thus, I don't think that Palestinian statehood should be dependent upon Palestinian actions, as it is a right of every nation to have a piece of land they can call their own. In the US, you retain your basic rights even if you commit a crime. Similarly, although I think that Palestinians have engaged in despicable and criminal behavior, they retain their right to a homeland. That doesn't mean that Israelis/Jews have to start embracing Palestinians wherever they see them, or that Palestinians have to embrace Jews/Israelis, but not liking someone is not a good enough reason to deny him/her his/her rights, including life. I think Israel should keep the entire Jerusalem and let go of everything else.

For the last poster: I'm afraid I'd have to disagree with you on this site doing a "good" job, and actually you hit it on the nail head when you suggested the claims of Jews dispossessed by the Arab and Islamic countries. Those in "support (in)sanity" call for a divided Jerusalem. Even the so-called "moderate" King Hussein of Jordan kept Old Jerusalem Judenrein from 1948 till the Six Day War. Synagogues were torched and blasted, Jewish cemetaries desecrated and the headstones used for paving roads for the Jordanian Army. Jews were forbidden to enter the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and of course that also meant Old Jerusalem. And so the Pierre Laval of Israel, Beilin, and the murder Yasser's lapdog Abbo want Jerusalem divided. This after over 35 years of open access to all faiths. And by the way, look at Bethlehem, now under Paly rule. The Christians are fleeing in droves, they are being intimidated and tortured for their faith by the all-so-sweet PLO and their fellow Islamofascists, and two years ago they actually beat and starved even the pro-PLO priests in the Church of the Nativity! And 'support insanity' wants a Palestinian state. Wonderful. By the way, a so-called people who disrespects animals - torturing innocent donkeys on the streets of Bethlehem and then using those same animals to shield their killers or deliver bombs to Israeli checkpoints are a people who don't deserve to exist period. For the way one treats innocent creatures is indicative of what kind of people they really are. Native Americans never tortured an animal no matter how destitute or bitter they were, nor used their religion to advocate their children killing others. I suggest, Katya, and anyone else to please do check out the links this site provides. The "Jewish" links are those of folks like Mikey "Smash Monogamy" Lerner, of Tikkun, whose fellow fascists even refused his participation in an anti-Iraq war rally because he considered himself to be a Jew, and others who carp about the settlers and Sharon but have never called on the Palys to disarm as called for in Oslo. The Palestinian links on the other hand, don't even call for peace but make shrill nonsense about Israeli "aggression" (who started this round of terror and mayhem??) and demands and concessions from Israel, but not a word on what these bastards would do for peace. Don't believe me? Then if you have an open mind at all, do check 'em out, especially the "electronic intifada" site and the one glorifying Richard, ooops, Rachel Corrie, the brain-dead anti-America, anti-Jew who got her comeuppance for supporting the killers.

Hi I wonder why, in your plan, Israel is the only one doing penance for past crimes. Why don't you require the Arab countries to acknowledge "partial responsibility" for the fact that they've kicked out at least as many Jews as there were Palestinians who left Israel? Why not demand a right-of-return for those Jews, or ask Arab countries to offer financial compensation? See, claims of impartiality only prove true if you're actually impartial, and while you're doing a good job being so with respect to Israelis and Palestinians, you apparently suffer amnesia when it comes to Jews and Arabs pre-1949. Usually, the agressors and the losers of wars pay reparations; yet Israel, which was neither the agressor nor the loser in 1948, 1956, 1967, 1973 and 1991 is supposed to share it's already tiny land with other people. Ever thought of asking Jordan to give up a chunk of it's territory? Despite all this, I still think you're a good job. Thank you for at least trying to remain sane.

This is a follow-up to my previous note as I had the opportunity to look at your links. There is one that is in memory to little Richard Cory, ooops, Rachel Corrie, the member of the International Solidarity (read: Fascists) who went over to express solidarity with the killers and confront the Israel Defense Forces. Richard, ooops, Rachel never once went to the home of a murdered teen, killed at the Dolphinarium, or to the home of a slaughtered baby, killed at the Sbarro Pizzeria, or to the gravesite of those butchered at the Netanya Park Plaza hotel as they were sitting down to a Seder. Or even to the Hebrew University, where young women her age were callously killed by a genocidal bomber, courtesy of the poor pitiful Palys. No, Richard, oops, Rachel burned American flags and acted as a cheerleader to terrorists. Now,according to the song, Richard Cory went home and put a bullet in his head. Rachel Corrie, on the other hand, was brain dead even before she was stupid enough to walk into a war zone and confront an IDF bulldozer. This American-born girl chose to side with the Fascists and the killers of women and children. To provide a link to mourn her, and NOT for those slaughtered in genocidal bombings reveals the true colors behind "Support Sanity". Let me also add her a few salient facts. One, Remember it wasn't Barak or even Sharon who choose murder and mayhem. It was Arafat, who wanted more besides half of Jerusalem and practically the entire West Bank. Precisely what Beilin, the Quisling, is asking for now. The violence as always was INITIATED BY THE PALESTINIANS. It is time for time to disarm completely or face the consequences. Two, All of your "Jewish" websites are the ones that advocate appeasing the Palestinians and demonizing the only Zionists left in Israel, the Settlers who are settling on JEWISH land. All of the Palestinian ones glorify the Arafats, the Erekats and Ashrawis, who have never strongly condemned the slaughter of women and children, but like little immature tykes always point fingers at Israel and demand concessions. I'd give Saeb and Hanan concessions alright - together with their blessed Yasser and Sheik Yassin of Hamas they'd all be swinging from the highest gallows from the Sholom Tower building in Tel-Aviv. If you don't believe me, then do check out the "Electronic Intifada" site. It reeks of Jew-hate and support of babykillers! Let's have some honesty here, and better yet, the truth.
From a mother whi is not blind and deaf anymore despite her hearts desires

When people don't learn from history they repeat the same mistakes which brought them to their current troubles. It is true for individuals as well for countries. When one wants to listen only the wishes of one's heart's desires, one becomes blind and deaf to the reality. When my daughter was born in Tel Aviv, I believed deeply that she will be growing in a peaceful world. I believed that the Holocaust was such a traumatic event in human history, that it will never occur again because humanity learned it's tragic lesson. I believed that palestinian mothers, like myself, wanted to raise their children into a better life. 21 years later I watch my daughter being successful in college, planning and creating herself productive life, while palestinian mothers dance with joy on the streets while their children are being turned into death sowing devices, I look with fright at the evil anti-Semitic monster sharpening its ugly teeth in Europe and in Arab countries. My heart is crying and aching for peace, but I'm not blind nor deaf anymore. The reality is that no matter what we will do they will hate us, and strive to eliminate us. Our thousands of years existence despite their constant schemes to annihilate us stands like a field of thorns on their way. We Jews and all the sane people in the world should turn inward to strengthen ourselves spiritually and to do the right thing to protect ourselves. We learn from Jacob our Father how to act with our enemies: We daven to Hashem, we give them gifts and we prepare for a war. They rejected all our gifts, they lied, cheated and schemed deadly schemes against us. It's time to stop catering to their evilness.

I guess that you will include this in your "hate mail" but it really doesn't matter much to me. You say 'support sanity'. That's nice, but it does take two to tango, and the Palestinians would rather kill Jews than desire real peace. At this time in history, they do not deserve nor require a state. When the Palestinians stop demanding Jewish land, when they close down the schools that both Arafat and the Mullahs have set up to preach hate and death to Jews, when they actively, actively, actively disarm the murder groups that deliberately target women and children, then this is SANITY. What you advocate, along with the Quisling piece of crap known as Yossi Beilin, is not only insanity, but suicide for Jews. Sorry. But that is the reality. Both the "moderates" Mazen and Qurei won't even lift a finger to disarm the babykillers. By the way, folks, if you happen to believe that dismantling settlements and dividing Jerusalem will bring peace, I'd love to smoke the wacky tabacky you're smoking. The reality is - even if all of the settlements were dismantled tomorrow, and half of Jerusalem (even now, Jews cannot worship on the Temple Mount) were given to the killers, there would not be peace. The peace that Palys want is the peace of the grave, with an at best truncated Israel, or worse, a destroyed country that is Judenrein. Did Munich bring peace? Were we in America generous enough to give all of the lands west of the Mississippi to the Native Americans and those lands appropriated by the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo back to Mexico, or divide Washington D.C. in half? I think not. The real sanity and real peace comes when the Palestinians get brains and decide that the Arafats, the Hamas, and the Mullahs are killing them as well as us, and decide to rise up and hang the bastards. If they don't- then there is a second state and it is called Jordan. Okay, boychiks, how about some of your weed?

When I first heard (or read) of this “virtual peace treaty”, the first thought to come to mind was Aristophanes’ Acharnians, the comedy in which the hero makes his own peace treaty to opt out of the Peloponnesian War. However, the Middle East situation is not an ancient comedy; it is a modern tragedy. The negotiators deserve the highest praise for having confronted and dealt with the tough issues such as Jerusalem. The Oslo process and the current road map process postponed the tough questions in the wishful hope that they would be resolved as the negotiations continued. Ultimately, the wishful thinkers have not been the negotiators of the Geneva Accords, but the advocates of a process that postponed the difficult issues.

I am ordering your banner and I will hang it from my balcony the day it arrives! How sad that so many Americans (and others) keep buying the garbage about "there can never be peace." Peace happens when people decide that it WILL happen. The Geneva plan is the clearest expression yet of how Israel and Palestine can become neighbors and partners. Peace deserves this chance. I hope our "Christian right" will one day remember that Jesus not only was a Jew, but also that he had a lot of time for the Samaritans - he ate and drank with them, spoke with them, and held them up as examples for the rest of us. Those Samaritans are the ancestors of today's Palestinians, and yes, they really are as Jesus saw them. They are strongminded, savvy and articulate like the woman at the well, and they are kind, compassionate and generous like the traveller who stopped to help a stranger in trouble. They are also, for the most part, very devout and religious people, whether Christian or Muslim. The world needs Palestinians as much as the world need Jews - and where would we be without them?
